Hiking Pyrenees

Hiking Pyreenes Lleida Huesca Spain France Andorra. Hiking in the Pyrenees Mountains is an incredible experience. The Pyrenees are the preeminent mountain range on the Iberian Peninsula. They form the natural border between Spain and France. The small land-locked country of Andorra is also found in the high Pyrenees. On the Spanish side, the Pyrenees tend to be steep and this is reflected in the hiking here. On the French side there tends to be more gradual changes in slope and elevation but they are none the less impressive. The Spanish Pyrenees are home to world-class outdoor adventures, notably, rock climbing, canyoning, and hiking. A vast network of signed trails exists on both sides of the border and allows for great long distance hiking. There are also many shorter trails for single day hikes.

Adjacent valleys in the Pyrenees can be quite distinct both in culture and language as in appearance and climate. It's this wonderful variety and vitality that brings more international hikers to the Pyrenees than to any other mountain range in Spain. They truly are one of the hiking highlights of Europe.
