Ridge Climbing Mediterranean Coast

Ridge Climbing Valencia Alicante Castellon Costa Blanca Spain. There are no shortage of spectacular limestone ridgelines in the Alicante, Valencia, Castellon, and the Costa Blanca Spain. The geological processes that morphed Spain into an outdoor adventurer's playground are on full display in this region. In particular the ridges and crests that are found here are nothing short of breathtaking. Climbing these amazing features is an excellent way to experience their rugged nature.

Ridge climbing encompasses climbing and moving along rocky ridgelines while connected to your guide with a climbing rope. It differs to multi-pitch rock climbing because the group is normally constantly moving, instead of stopping to set up anchors. The distance between guide and participant is only a few meters instead of tens of meters. Therefore, the distance covered during the day is usually measured in kilometers instead of meters. Hence, these are normally long days and require a high level of stamina and physical conditioning. There are ridges of all lengths and difficulties here.

Ridges, ridgelines, crests

Many ridges contain short sections of narrow, serrated, knife-edge rock formations which require balance and a relaxed mind to navigate. Following a ridge for hundreds or even thousands of meters you will invariably encounter changing terrain. During a ridge climb, it's not just about climbing up, there are lots of ups, downs, traverses, and sometimes even rappels.

The Castellet Ridge in Alicante is one of the most famous ridges in Spain. It's so long that groups usually break it into 5 sections and attempt one section per day. It contains many towers, rappels, and serrated-knife edges. Alicante also hosts many other incredible ridges.

Group size is limited to 1-2 participants, depending on the ridge. Feel free to contact us for more information or to start your ridge climb today. We are happy to help you plan, design, and implement your goals and desires in the outdoors.
