Bigtime Aventura is a small outdoor adventure company offering certified mountain guiding services, courses and instruction, and adventure vacation packages to small groups of active people. Rich, the owner and guide specializes in outdoor adventures and active vacations in Spain. Guided activities in small groups allows for each client to experience the adventure in a much more friendly, colloquial, and secure manner. Our level of professionalism is unmatched in Spain. Rich guides all the trips (see Rich Griffeth for more information). He is a certified mountain guide and member of the Spanish Mountain Guides Association and the Union of International Mountain Leader Associations. Each group will always be led by a certified guide, no impostors allowed (see How to Identify a Certified Mountain Guide in Spain for more information). Rich is dedicated to making your active vacation the most memorable possible. Through rock climbing, canyoning, hiking, ridge climbing, via ferrata, snowshoeing, and coasteering, he will show you some amazing natural places and engage you in incredible outdoor adventures.

Mediterranean Spain - Valencia, Costa Blanca, Mallorca
The Community of Valencia consists of three provinces, Castellon, Valencia, and Alicante. It is a region of amazing natural beauty, with spectacular beaches and coves along the coast and rugged peaks and mountains just inland. Spain has an amazing diversity of landscapes for its relatively small size and some of the best places are found in the Community of Valencia. The mild Mediterranean climate allows for year round outdoor adventure.
World class rock climbing is found here. Spectacular karst limestone formations dot the entire Iberian peninsula but particularly in Valencia. This also provides endless opportunities for canyoning and ridge climbing. There are a multitude of brilliant via ferratas here too. The rocky seacliffs in Alicante are the home of the best coasteering on the peninsula. The only place better is Mallorca, which is a quick 30min flight from Valencia or Alicante. Many of the activities we do are within sight of the Mediterranean Sea. Combine rugged mountains with the beautiful Mediterranean Sea all in one go! The Community of Valencia is a great place for an active outdoor vacation!
Pyrenees - Spain, France, Andorra
Rich spends quite a bit of time guiding in the Pyrenees too. They are an enchanting range. The changes in elevation from the valley floors to the peaks are incredible. These mountains are very steep and rocky. There is extraordinary canyoning in the summer. The winter snow melt gushes down the mountains and fills the rivers for this exciting activity. The quantity and quality of rock here is staggering and the climbing likewise. The majority of the hardest sport climbs in the world are found in Spain and a large number of those are found in the Pyrenees. Innumerable big walls are found in the high peaks of the Pyrenees. Via ferratas can be found everywhere, both short athletic ferratas as well as longer alpine style ferratas.
The well-established fully-serviced hut system allows for amazing hut to hut hiking trips on both sides of the international border. It is possible to link huts between Spain and France and even the landlocked mountainous country of Andorra. Winters in the high Pyrenees bring plenty of snow and there are endless opportunities for snowshoeing. It is possible to find any type of adventure in the Pyrenees. They are an incredible mountain range.
Picos de Europa National Park - Asturias, Cantabria, León
Perhaps Rich's favorite place in all of Spain is Picos de Europa National Park. This place has it all in terms of mountain activities and outdoor adventures. Some say the best rock on the Iberian peninsula is found here. It's hard to argue against that but then again, the limestone in Spain is pretty unbeatable anywhere you go. The three huge massifs that make up the park are divided by deep gorges making this an amazing place to explore by foot. There is limitless climbing, hiking, and canyoning in Picos de Europa National Park and the surrounding Cordillera Cantabrica. There are also several new via ferratas in the area. Patagonia, Argentina - Lakes District
Simply stunning mountains, lakes, fjords, glaciers, valleys, and small towns. This is the more authentic and less touristy Patagonian experience compared with where the masses of people usually visit. Multi-day hut to hut hiking trips covering wide ranges of ecosystems and endemic flora and fauna. Hike through deep lush valleys and cross rocky alpine tundra. Accompanied by glaciated volcanic peaks straddling the border between Argentina and Chile. This is Andean Condor country. Stay at rustic mountain huts and enjoy authentic Argentine food, chocolate, mate, dulce de leche, alfajores, and much more!
