If peak bagging is your game, then spend some time summitting Aitana, the highest peak in Alicante at 1558m, or Puig Campana at 1410m. The summit of the imposing rock climbing area of Ponoch is also within grasp in this region.
Hiking in the province of Valencia is sublime. There are spectacular gorges and canyons in inland Valencia and rugged mountains close to the coast. Hiking trails abound in this province and you can find every type of official trail in Spain. There are the GR trails (long distance trails >50km in length). These are marked by red and white painted bars. PR trails (20-50km in length) are also prevalent here, marked by yellow and white bars. And there are many SL trails (<20km in length) marked by green and white bars.
Castellon is an extremely mountainous province. It is also home to the highest peak in the Community of Valencia. Peñagolosa stands 1813m high. There are incredible hiking trails in this area which take advantage of the amazing view points close to this massif. Many protected natural areas are found in Castellon as well and all offer excellent hiking.
