Via Ferratas and Canyoning in Málaga, Spain

Málaga, Spain

Via ferratas and Canyoning in Malaga, Spain. The province of Málaga, in the autonomous community of Andalucía, is quintessential southern Spain. Small, charming towns, nestled in the mountains and drenched with almost overwhelming year round sunshine. All the towns are painted white (except for one!) and are mostly quaint. Although, let's be honest, if you've spent any time in Spain, you know that no town in Spain is really quiet or tranquil, at least not for extended periods. There's always a festival somewhere, and especially in Mediterranean, Spain. This is even more so in Andalucía, where the siesta is still very much a part of their identity. Likewise, fiestas are a huge part of their identity.

El Chorro

Either way, you can't deny the amazing topography in the province of Málaga. There are mountains everywhere, and they are spectacular and ripe for outdoor adventures. At the heart of it all is the climbing epicenter of El Chorro, one of Europe's premier winter climbing destinations. Around El Chorro there are also several fun canyons for canyoning and a few via ferratas as well.

Ronda

Another beautiful area for via ferratas and canyoning is around the town of Ronda. Ronda gets a lot of recognition for it's famous bridge. Yes, it is a sight to see but even more impressive are the outdoor adventures in the Serranía de Ronda, the mountains near town. There are several protected natural areas in Málaga and it's possible to do canyoning and via ferratas in and around these regions. Simply put, Málaga offers a lifetime of climbing, canyoning, via ferrata, hiking, and general outdoor adventure for anyone willing to seek out these activities.
