Costa Blanca Multi-Pitch Climbing

Costa Blanca Multi-Pitch Climbing

Costa Blanca Multi-Pitch Climbing is a great two-day rock climbing adventure in one of Spain's most beautiful areas. The Costa Blanca region is full of wonderful outdoor adventure opportunities. There is an enormous quantity of karst limestone here. The quality of the rock is spectacular. If you enjoy rock climbing or if you want to see and touch high quality rock then this is your chance.

Two Days of Guided Multi-Pitch Rock Climbing

This trip is a guided multi-pitch rock climbing adventure. Your guide will be Rich Griffeth, the owner and guide at Bigtime Aventura.

On this two day trip, which is ideal for a weekend gateway to sunny Mediterranean Spain, we will spend both days engaging in multi-pitch rock climbing. There is a lot of rock in this area, both inland and along the coast. For these two days we will concentrate on multi-pitch climbing on sea cliffs and walls within throwing distance of the sea.

Routes

This trip is available to all levels of climbers. There is a minimum of one person and a maximum of two people for this trip. There are so many routes here that we can chose the best routes for you based on your level. These routes will introduce you to multi-pitch climbing and provide you with some serious thrills.

Day 1

On the first day we will practice some basic techniques that will be necessary for our safety during the two days of climbing. After mastering these simple skills, we will start climbing. On the first day, we will climb two different multi-pitch routes. Both routes have a grade of 5+ (5.10a), however, on both routes there is only one section of this grade. The rest of both routes have a difficulty range of 4-5 (5.8-5.9). One route is on the sea cliffs, includes a 40m free floating rappel, and some scrambling near the edge of the sea. Then we start three pitches of vertical climbing, totaling about 90m.

After finishing the first route, we can take a little breather and then walk to our next route for the day. The second route has five incredible pitches and is approximately 180m high. To descent this route we will make two rappels. Therefore, on the first day, you will have learned several essential rock climbing skills and techniques.

Day 2, Peñón de I'fach

Now that you have gained some experience with multi-pitch climbing, we will go for the Costa Blanca's most famous natural feature, the Peñón de I'fach. The route we will climb is approximately 250m long and rated 5+ (5.10a). There are several variations on this massive rock so we have possibilities to cater to our desires. At the top of this 332m high massif, you will enjoy one of the best views in the Mediterranean. After lunch at the top, we will walk down the back side to return to our cars.
