Outdoor Adventures in the Pyrenees

The Pyrenees are one of the major mountain ranges in Europe. They contain every type of mountainous terrain that you can imagine. Tall alpine peaks, low lush valleys, densely pine forests, deep canyons, and even glaciers. Come to the Pyrenees to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a beautiful mountain range, and it's flora and fauna. Summers are warm and sunny. Winters in the valleys are usually mild however at higher elevations it is cold and snowy. The geological evolution of the Pyrenees has produced incredible opportunities for outdoor adventures. The quantity and quality of exposed rock is staggering. There are amazing rock climbing venues here, both for top-roping and sport climbing and for multi-pitch climbing on big walls.

Most of Spain and the Mediterranean region of Europe is composed of limestone. Over millennia natural processes have eroded and shaped the rock into deep canyons. The Pyrenees are a mecca for canyoning. Likewise, hundreds of via ferrata have been developed on the cliffs and walls in Pyrenees. Hiking is a favorite pastime in mountainous areas and it's no different in the Pyrenees. Mountain huts are spread throughout the range, on both sides of the international border between Spain and France and even in the small landlocked country of Andorra. Unique and Memorable Experiences, Adventures Pyrenees

The highest peaks in the Pyrenees reach more than 3000m of height. Many of these can be reached simply by hiking. However, in our Peaks of the Pyrenees adventures, we seek out peaks that require hiking and scrambling to reach their summits. This includes some semi-technical sections and the use of your hands for progression is necessary. Some sections may even require implementing a rope to protect exposed areas. Other times the rope may be used for exposed upward or downward scrambling. Rappelling is another technique that can be used as well. These are exciting multi-day alpine adventures in the high mountains that combine several techniques.

In the winter months, one of the most enjoyable and tranquil activities is snowshoeing. It's a great way to get off the beaten path and find peace and quiet in the mountains. The majority of snowshoe trips worldwide are just day trips and you return to your home in the afternoon. But as you've seen from our trips and as you'll notice right away, Bigtime Aventura isn't like everyone else. We offer unique and memorable outdoor experiences. Our snowshoeing and igloo building trip is yet another example. On this trip, we will snowshoe during the day and then you'll build your own igloo to sleep in that night. It might sound crazy but it will surely be one of the best and most memorable experiences of your life. This is usually a two-day, one-night trip, however, we can customize it to however many days you would like.
