Bariloche Hut to Hut Hiking and Rock Climbing

Bariloche Hut to Hut Hiking and Rock Climbing in Northern Patagonia Argentina! Join Bigtime Aventura for this extraordinary hut to hut hiking trip to Nahuel Huapi National Park in San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, Patagonia, Argentina. Nahuel Huapi is Argentina's oldest national park and is made up of incredible glacial carved valleys, glacial lakes, and glaciated volcanic peaks. Hiking here is a real treat. Spectacular views abound in all directions every step of the way. Deep lush valleys with endemic Patagonian flora are surrounded by rocky hillsides, pinnacles, and towers. These are dwarfed by the massive snow capped volcanos of the region. The deeper valleys are filled with ancient melted glaciers, forming the vast network of the Lakes District which extends for tens of miles north and south. This is a region where while hiking in the high country you'll be accompanied by Andean condors.

The lovely town of San Carlos de Bariloche is located on Nahuel Huapi Lake, the largest and deepest lake in the Lakes Region of Northern Patagonia, and is famous for its chocolate shops. Rest days can be spent visiting the numerous chocolate shops, cafes, and restaurants that specialize in famous Argentine barbecue. A strong Swiss and German influence is still found here and there are plenty of microbrewery's in town too. In the winter months, Cerro Catedral transforms into South America's largest ski resort.

The rugged nature of this region is epitomized by the craggy aspect of many of it's peaks and outcroppings. These features lend themselves beautifully to technical rock climbing. There are some amazing crags for sport, trad, and multi-pitch climbing close to Bariloche. Most of the rock is high quality granite and gneiss but each area is unique.

If you want an adventure in an unspoiled natural setting, this is the trip for you. Hut to hut hiking in Bariloche, Patagonia with the option of adding on a few days of rock climbing.
